Changing
Sounds Tip:
Windows XP Support
By: WinXpFix.com
You don't have to settle for the default sounds that
come with Windows. You can change the sounds that are
associated with various events such as starting Windows,
receiving mail, logging off, etc. Simply open the Control
Panel, then open Sounds, "Speech and Audio Devices,"
then "Sound and Audio Devices." In the Properties
window that appears, click the Sounds tab. From there,
you can highlight an event, and then choose a sound to
be associated with it by clicking the Browse button to
find a sound file. You can also choose the drop-down box
under Sound Schemes, and choose No Sounds to keep your
computer from making those noises altogether.
Easy Way to Open
Special Explorer Windows Tip:

Sometimes it just isn't very efficient to click several
levels deep into menus and folders. This is why I'm always
happy to find a shortcut for things. For instance, in
a previous tip, I mentioned that you can use the Windows
key (if you have one, it's in the lower left, between
the Ctrl and Alt keys) plus R to open the Run command
window instead of clicking Start then Run. Well, in that
box, you can type the name of some of the folders, and
they will automatically open in a Window. For instance,
if you type "sendto" the SendTo folder will
open. You can type "My Documents" to open that
folder. Typing "c:" will open a window at the
root of your c: drive. There are many more that work,
if you try them - ones with spaces need the quotes around
them. Of course, if you type in the whole path, that works
every time (but might not be faster than using the mouse).
